Tank Cleaning

We recommend vacuuming your septic tank every 2-5 years depending on usage. We track your septic system's solid levels across our inspection visits, helping predict your next pumpout ahead of time.

Real-Estate Inspections

Are you buying a house that has an aerobic septic system?

We provide real-estate septic inspections for potential homebuyers, or for home inspectors. For more info, please contact us.

Maintenance Contract

The State of Texas requires that all aerobic septic systems have an active service (or more commonly called "maintenance") contract with a septic company. This contract is a written agreement that covers three inspections per year (depending on your location), along with any other maintenance specifics such as respond time, bleach re-fills, etc. This maintenance contract and all inspection reports are filed with the appropriate agency.

The expertise, experience, and services that Advanced Aerobic Systems offer are constantly updated, to be as effective and efficient as possible. And, by having your aerobic system regularly inspected by a licensed professional, you can prevent any number of small problems from becoming large, expensive emergencies. See more about our inspection protocols below.

Inspections

We have one of the most extensive inspection protocols in the industry. We check for over 20 potential issues across 3 categories. If we do see a problem arise, we’ll communicate with you regarding the issue and proceed accordingly. Additionally, our technicians take photos of the issue to provide clear communication, which are always available in your online dashboard along with other documents (such as past inspection reports, invoices, etc).

Chlorine Tablets

Tablet ChlorinatorWhen you're using chlorine tablets, it’s important that you use tablets made from calcium hypochlorite, and have been certified for wastewater disinfection by the EPA.
These are commonly refered to as "Septic Tablets".

WARNING: DO NOT use swimming pool tablets in your septic system. The chlorine in these tablets are made from trichloro-s-triazinetrione. Swimming pool tablets dissolve more slowly than septic tablets, and do not disinfect the effluent throughly. There is also a danger of explosion since the tablets release a highly combustable gas (nitrogen chloride) while in use, since they are not totally immersed under water in your septic system. The EPA does not approve swimming pool tablets for wastewater effluent disinfection. Other options include liquid chlorination and UV treatment.

How my Aerobic System Works

The Aerobic Treatment process generally consists of the following phases:

  • A pre-treatment (or trash) tank to remove large solids and other heavy substances.
  • An aeration (or treatment) tank, where aerobic bacteria digest the biological wastes.
  • A settling (or clarification) tank that allows any undigested solids to settle. These solids must be periodically pumped from the system.
  • And finally (when required), chlorine is mixed with the effluent, to produce an antiseptic output. A less common option is UV disinfection, in-which the effluent is exposed to UV light as it passes into the final tank (pump tank).

The type of chlorine used is either bleach, or tablets that are intended to break down quickly in sunlight. Other forms of chlorine persist after the effluent is dispersed and can kill plants in the leach field, as well as cause ecological harm.
Since your system contains a living ecosystem of microbes to digest waste products in the water, excessive amounts of chemicals (such as bleach or antibiotics) can damage the aerobic environment of your system, and reduce its ability to provide proper treatment.
