Future Maintenance

The state (TCEQ) requires all aerobic septic systems to have an active maintenance contract, with inspections performed every so-often (1-4 months, depending on your county or location). This service contract is usually renewed yearly. However, when a new system is installed, the first two years of septic maintenance are included, covered by the installer.

Disposal Types

There are many ways treated effluent leave the ATU (aerobic treatment unit) and enter the soil. Below are a few of the more common types for the area.

Leaching Chambers

A leaching chamber is a wastewater system consisting of trenches or beds, together with one or more distribution pipes or open-bottomed plastic chambers, installed in appropriate soils. These chambers typically receive wastewater flow from a Aerobic Treatment Unit or other Septic Tank and transmit it into soil for final treatment and disposal.

Surface Spray

Aerobic units (Class I On-Site Aerobic Septic Systems) treat wastewater well enough to be used in conjunction with spray systems, which distribute treated wastewater above-ground over lawns. This is the most common way to disperse wastewater for aerobic systems due to it's cost effectiveness and wide range of soil type coverage.

Sub-Surface Drip

A subsurface drip field distributes treated wastewater under the ground through a network of tubing installed below the surface. Drip tubing (about 1/2" in diameter) is normally installed 6 - 12" beneath the surface. Drip systems typically require effluent to be filtered before dispersal due to the risk of emitter blockage.

New Installations

Looking to install a new septic system or build a new house? A septic permit is required before a building permit or permanent power can be obtained. Here are the steps required:

    • The site is to be evaluated by a Licensed Site Evaluator.
    • We will then provide you with a quote for aerobic septic system cost.
    • Next, a septic permit application must be filled out by the customer/homeowner, and be returned along with the requested documents.
    • We will then work you, and a Regestered Sanitaran to produce your septic system's design
    • All these documents and files are then submitted to your local county/agency for approval.
    • Once approved by the county/agency, the installation process can be scheduled.
    • New installations come with 2 years of service (periodic inspections of the septic system) We report our findings to both you and the appropriate agency.
